Seller: ogpeter (799) 100%, Location: CAMPBELTOWN, Ships to: GB, Item: 323969848979 Here we have a magnificent Vintage Pulsynetic Cast Iron Wall Clock This clock may have originated in a factory or industrial building, or maybe a train station or other public space where accurate time needed to be known and was synchonised to a master clock on the premises. The outer body is 44cm (17.25") in diameter and the visible face is 40cm (15.75") diameter, the outer cast iron rim is 5cm (2") deep and the mechanism cover projects a further 5cm (2") from the rear. I estimate that the clock weighs 20 - 25Kg. The clock is complete and undamaged (**See note below**), the cast iron does not have any cracks or chips that I can see and glass is intact. There are a few spots on the inside of the glass but I'm not going to disturb it just to remove them. No restoration has been attempted and the rear cover was carefully removed, just to inspect and photograph the Pulsynetic mechanism. The original rope seal is still attached to the cover and has done it's job well judging by the condition of the interior. Mysteriously; the word "Front" can be seen, written in pencil inside this cover - perhaps there were a pair of clocks, one at the front and one at the rear of a building... As you can see from the photographs, the mechanism is in fine order - all parts move as they should and the hands rotate freely. The pulse coil mechanism is fully working and the clock will advance 30 seconds per pulse, supplied from as little as 6 volts. I do not know the original working voltage but 6 or 12 volts would seem like a good guess to me. If you are looking at this item, I am sure you already know that this clock needs to be driven by a pulse signal from a master clock - hence the name. However just to be 100% clear - you cannot simply connect this clock to a battery and have it tell the time - this clock requires one pulse every 30 seconds to be supplied to its' electromagnetic mechanism, then the hands will advance one 30-second step per pulse. If you purchase this item and subsequently require a "black box" that generates correct pulses to drive the clock; contact me and I'll happily build you a suitable unit for around £250 (this price may vary a little with your exact specification) Alternatively you could talk to your friendly local Electronics Hobbyist who will probably jump at the chance to design and build a pulse generator for you. Note: The shipping cost quoted reflects the work required to pack this item in a way that ensures it reaches its destination in perfect condition NOTE: I have been advised that this may be an early Gents of Leicester Pulsynetic clock and is unusual in that it has the specific commissioning name on the face. **PLEASE ALSO NOTE**: this clock would originally have had 3 cast iron mounting feet, allowing it to be mounted on a flat wall - these feet seem to have been removed at some time and tapped holes added to facilitate retaining the clock body in a circular frame or matching cut-out. Thank you to the ebay users who pointed these things out.
