Rust and Rot ~ Purveyors of wonderful things.
Welcome to the sale of this antique tin trunk.
This Victorian steamer trunk would date from the late 18th century and would have been used for transporting clothing etc on trains and boats, hence their name 'Steamer Trunks'. Made of tin they were inexpensive but made to last. This one is a smaller size and comes in its original painted finish which has taken on a nice aged patina. To the sides it has carry handles and to the front a brass lock (no key). The inside is dark blue and clean enough for most storage uses. A nice sized trunk that would work in a bathroom, bedroom or living room.
In good condition commensurate with its age and use, the base is a bit dented. Please have a good look at the photographs as they form part of the description and contact me if you have any further questions.
The trunk measures (in cm) 36 tall, 61 wide and 38 deep. It weighs 6.8kg
