This is a newly made, unique and unusual wooden sieve that has a woven straw mesh and has been converted to a wall mounted shelf whilst still showing off the sieve details. Although there has been some woodworm in its history this is a solid piece, it has been treated as a precaution and also spent several hours in a bleach bath as part of the cleaning process. The bent wood frame was stained a darker shade to create some contrast with the straw. The lot has been finished with a durable satin varnish. All wooden parts are reclaimed timber, only brass screws and mounting plates are new items.
It's about 43cm diameter.
