They are mouldings from seal rings of the Roman and Greek period showing mythical pictures, stories and famous people of their period such as Emperors. It was a common practice for them to do this and they collected their tassies in huge collectors cabinets or boxes which usually held hundreds of mouldings. These all came from one collection. I am selling them individually.  All are very interesting period antiques and people collect these now as much as they did during the Grand Tour period. Some have very good deep relief and some you will see are concave and some convex in appearance.  All are in very nice overall condition unless stated otherwise and all have the gilded cardboard edge surround. Some are numbered on the edge.  Not to be confused with the modern reproduction ones you see in abundance these days. Be assured these are genuine Grand Tour examples at least 150 years old.  This one shows the bust of a man with short wavy hair facing left. Looks like there's a little dagger underneath him. This one has nice depth to it and nice detailing. Some of the detailing has been worn away with age and it is a bit dusty. There is a small chip down the left hand side. It measures approx. 35mm x 27mm x 7mm deep at the edge. My stock ref: tassie drawer. Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal Coke can, and we all know how big those are.
