It is possible this unit is made from an old spitfire as are the very sought after English Rose kitchens of that era. As you'll see, the cabinet has been painted in the past which has now flaked and chipped off in areas. The cabinet could be left like this, but for those who love a project and want to add further value to the piece, the item could be stripped and polished or stripped and repainted. Either way it's a very unusual and striking piece of furniture. Overall the unit is very solid but there are things to note; The cabinet has been painted at some point so it is not as original and may have signs of rust under the paint. The base unit has part of an old key stuck in the lock which means the handle does not open the door on one side. The door can however be opened simply with a screwdriver. The lock barrel could be replaced. The other door/lock works fine. The key comes with the cabinet making it lockable. The ledge trim is loose in areas and appears as though it has been added at a later date, again may benefit from being removed.
