Original  WW2 THIRD REICH  military map of  BULGARIA & TURKEY entitled "BURGAZ" (BURGAS). BURGAS is a vital port on the Black Sea which was taken by Soviet troops during 1944. Produced in 1940 by Austria's military mapping services which were under the control of Germany following the country's 'Annexation' in 1938. The map was clearly captured by the Allies, and found its way to the British official archives, before it was finally removed from the War Office with a 'CANCELLED' ink stamp. From a large collection recently sold off by Edinburgh University - hence their own ink stamping to margin. (From time to time, the government distributes excess stocks of Allied maps, along with captured enemy examples, to various national institutions such as libraries, museums, universities etc.) Has never been folded, so will be shipped rolled in a cardboard tube.
