Details and Discussion :  A lovely untouched early to mid 19th Century hoop-back armchair with turned legs, stretcher and bobbin underarm supports. It has an uncoloured oak patina with a traditional wax finish. It is in excellent condition. No makers name is visible, but similar chairs are illustrated in ‘The English Regional Chair’ by Bernard D. Cotton and are attributed to Lincolnshire. It is possible that this chair was made in Grantham, the high quality and design places Grantham made chairs at the pinnacle of English regional chairs.

Dimensions: 920mm back height, 455mm seat height, 450mm seat width and 390mm seat depth. 36”, 18", 19 1/2" and 15” respectively.
