This is one of a number of 18-19th Century long case clock dials and movements which are from the extensive collection that belonged to the late Eric Morton 1945 - 2019 . I know very little about clocks and know little jargon relating to them. Any questions please ask and I will answer them as best I can. All items are for spares - repair only and may have bits missing but I know that some NON clock collectors only want a dial to hang on a wall as a furnishing with their surname or a local place name etc. all are A/F = as found.  This is a solid brass dial which is named John Holroyd, Wakefield. It has Roman Numerals and numbers engraved onto the ring border along with a nice foliage style pattern in the centre. These Roman Numerals have been filled with black enamelling but it is chipped and discoloured in places. The dial has all 4 spandrels in the corners which have a nice pierced foliage sort of pattern and good relief Faces. Unfortunately, its original hands are missing. There is a nice complete date dial under the centre point. 3 struts to take the movement on the back.    The metal ware is tarnished and as mentioned, any paintwork is worn. There are some surface scuffs and minor impact marks etc. It needs a bit of a clean.  Please see pictures provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition. I sell an awful lot of these brass dials to people that simply hang them on the wall as they are fabulous Georgian period antiques in their own right even if they don't have a movement on them or in a case. It  measures approx. 12 inches x 12 inches.  It weighs approx. 2kg. These dials are very heavy and the shipping price reflects this so please take this into consideration when buying.  My stock ref : Unit 9 - #T409-060123. 26th January a UK buyer has just got his package I sent to him 1st Class Signed for service which I posted to him on 3rd January this year. That is ROYAL MAIL service inland which is not good enough. Shocking.  The ROYAL MAIL postal service I have been using for the past 45 years and I was always a loyal customer and I would always want to use them over anyone else have let me down seriously this year. Their service was on a downer for the last year or so but has come to head in November - December when they took strike action for many days during those months. Their service was pretty bad before this to be fair but what a SHAMBLES it is now. I have customers around the world and in the UK that have not had delivery of their packages from me, sent tracked mail. Lost or delayed in sorting depot's and customs terminals. This is such a shocking service from a company that should have been TOP of their game. I have had to resort to the ebay GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM for international deliveries and to be honest I do not think I will be in any rush to go back to using RM. They have lost my business, which is a considerable amount over a year. They need to get their finger pulled out and their act together otherwise I can see them really going down the pan and being bought by a rival for a £1. All UK sellers are in the same boat and like me will be jumping ship, some jumped ship many years ago and I wish I had done. I have refunded more £££ this year than I have done at any other time and put in more claims to RM for their incompetent services.   To see ALL my other 6000+ items for sale: please click on the  VISIT SHOP or click "see other items", strangely both only have a limited view of what I have to offer on each platform so to see everything click on Shop by Category which will give you a much better view. Scale is usually an English 1 penny coin which is 20mm in diameter which is just short of 7/8ths of an inch in diameter, or a universal Coke can, and we all know how big those are.

If you see  A/F = a/f in the title or description it means  "as found" condition which may have scuffs, scratches and damage. In relation to all my listings it does not mean " about fine ". I have used A/F  for " as found " for 45 years.
