Beautiful & Large Late Victorian Carved Oak Barometer - Milk Glass Dial  - Replaced Thermometer - Almost Three Feet High - Tested. A late 19th century British machine, these sometimes reach as far as 1910. This was tested and works well. Lovely carved oak mount which we've wax polished. Milk glass dial with simple legends, unbranded, simply marked ANEROID BAROMETER. At some point it's lost the original thermometer which would have been mercury on a brass plate, it's been replaced by a modern plastic unit which is only held on with one screw. Nice bronze bezel with bevelled glass cover. The dial has a small amount of inner dust and it's had two replacement bezel screws. 88cms in height or 34.5" - just less than three feet. A maximum width (at the barometer) of 26cms or 10". The barometer dial, including the bezel, has a diameter of 22cms and a depth of 7cms including the pointer knob. Modern thermometer mount is 22cms x 4cms. This will be dispatched Parcelforce 48 £16.00 - please note we don't ship outside of the U.K. This will need to calibrated to suit your location's height above sea level care needs to be taken with the tiny screw, if in doubt we'd be happy to do this for you message us on purchase. Finally if you are new to barometers please note these facts - the legends are rather a gimmick don't expect it to be raining when it points to rain it's all about high/low pressure it could be high pressure but still raining, and - the twin needles do not spin, they do not operate like a clock hands and the gold needle which is 'the pointer' does nothing unless you manually move it over the black one to indicate how much movement in pressure there has been in 24 hours.
