Rare Vintage 60s Embroidered Afghan Suede Fur Sheepskin Coat Boho Small/X-Small

Genuine Vintage 60s 70s Afghan Suede Fur Shearling Embroidered Coat Small boho hippy

Size: Small/Extra Small. There are no labels but I estimate this coat would best fit a size 8 UK, or possibly a small size 10. Please check measurements below.

Genuine vintage afghan coat from the 1960’s/1970’s.

Black suede with light orange and cream embroidery on front, sleeves and back. Full sheep skin lining and longer sheep wool around all outer edges to include the collar, cuffs and hem.

This coat had one previous owner before me and I’ve personally never worn it as it is a little too small for me.

Approx. measurements of outer part of coat, taken with garment laid flat and measured from side to side : Underarm to underarm (front, with coat done up): 17” Underarm to underarm (back): 17" Length from shoulder (incl. wool edging at hem): 46” Armpit to cuff (incl. wool at edge): 19” Full width at approx. waist level: 34” Full width at approx. hip level: 36”

Please remember, when measuring for coats leave room for layers, it is best to measure a coat you already own and compare the measurements. This coat is quite small across the chest area so I wouldn’t recommend it if you have a large bust, unless you’re happy to wear the coat undone. Condition: The coat is in good condition for its age but there are some signs of wear and tear. 

The coat has faint marks on the suede in a couple of places and the fur around the left cuff has thinned which can happen with afghan coats. 

 It looks like has been a small repair on the lower part of the right sleeve (I have pointed his out in a photo).

The suede on the back of the right sleeve isn't as supple as the rest of the coat, possibly due to exposure to sunlight in its previous home.

There is a small hole in one of the internal pockets which could be easily sewn up.

I have replaced all of the hooks and eyes with new ones as some were missing.

Overall it is a very rare, unique and wearable coat. A truly one of a kind piece.
